Today, this is the song that I’ve been playing the most in my studio.
It somehow captures my current mood – *nostalgic somewhat melancholic I guess.
In a way, I’m totally fascinated with Marian Anderson. A beautiful African-American opera singer who existed in a time when such a dream seemed virtually impossible.
I find myself amazed by the bravery it took for her to follow her inner spirit and learn to sing/ express herself in such a unique way. In general always I’m always drawn to those who break past limitations to achieve their own sense of uniqueness. Yet her story truly captivates me. I wish a Hollywood film would be made about her.
The heart-breaking thought of her pushing past her roots and the existing society framework she found herself in order to achieve her dreams is astonishing. Doing something so unique with an unmistakable voice and performing concerts and recitals in major music venues around the world, when she wasn’t even allowed to enter the evnues through the front-door because of brutal segregation imposed. Somehow she always found inner-strength to perform to her best and show her spirit to the world.
I can only but respect her greatly.
